Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A fire broke out in an electricity transformer on the second floor of a building in Shibpur, Howrah, on Sunday. The blaze was noticed after a loud spark and smoke emanated from the transformer, causing panic in the area. Two fire engines quickly arrived at the scene and successfully brought the fire under control. In response, the Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) deployed staff to the location to assess the situation.
As a precautionary measure, power supply was cut off to the entire area, affecting several households and businesses. The incident occurred in a densely populated residential zone, raising concerns about safety. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, and no injuries have been reported so far. Local officials have advised residents to report any irregularities with power lines or transformers to avoid similar incidents.
